Established in 1995, the Society for Ethics (SE) is an international society for the advancement of philosophical research in ethics, broadly construed, including areas such as (but not limited to) ethical theory, moral, social and political philosophy, as well as areas in applied ethics such as (but not limited to) legal, environmental, business and medical ethics. The SE is an academic society that seeks to promote philosophical research in ethics without promoting a particular ideological creed or agenda, except that of research excellence in ethics. Although the SE is primarily a philosophical society, other academicians and professionals are also encouraged to become members. The SE promotes ethical research in issues that are of interest to all segments of academia as well as to professionals in business, law, and medicine.

The Society for Ethics holds meetings in conjunction with some of the American Philosophical Association's annual divisional meetings. Keynote papers will be published (in revised form) in The Journal of Ethics: An International Philosophical Review, published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (See http://www.kluweronline.com/issn/1382-4554)

Presenters have included Professors Christine Korsgaard (Philosophy, Harvard University), Richard Arneson (Philosophy, UC San Diego), Bernard Rollin (Philosophy, Colorado State University), Susan Wolf (Philosophy, Johns Hopkins University), Paul Menzel (Philosophy, Pacific Lutheran University), Martha Nussbaum (Philosophy, University of Chicago), Keith Lehrer (Philosophy, University of Arizona), and Simon Blackburn (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill).

The Society for Ethics provides its members with an annual subscription to The Journal of Ethics: An International Philosophical Review. This subscription is provided as part of the cost of membership dues, and represents to members of the SE a substantially reduced rate for an individual subscription to the quarterly. To become a member, please complete the SE membership form below. Members will receive each of the four journal issues for the year in which they join the SE.
