The location was on top of a canyon at an altitude of about 2000 feet. It was cool in winter and hot in summer. The site was located in the middle of chaparral with no other houses in the area, at the start. That changed later on as people began to move into the area and build houses nearby. At first it was quiet and peaceful. The project started with help from 3 builders who lived nearby. This is what they built, a frame:

At first I wasn't very good at determining what should be done when fininshing up the inside. Then after a few friends came over and made comments I realized that there had to be some consistency with interior design to produce an impact. So, I went to lots of model homes and collected pictures and ideas. Here are some of the results. First, the most important room, the kitchen and then the next most important room the bath.

Now for the next most important room, the bath. This room is a fine example of a modern bath. It has tile for the double sinks which flow in from the tile and are easy to clean. The tile shower is easy to use and keep clean. Visibility through the window is great. There is a large window behind the curtain that gives an outdoor view and a lot of light. If you look in the mirror you can see the oval bathtub and the glassed in shower. The bath is a very bright room. I had two goldfish, maggie and flute. They lived in a fish bowl a lot like the one on the countertop at the far left. They were very happy fish when the sun came out. They swam and played tag with the algae in their fishbowl.
The last room was the living room. It is spacious because the ceilings are high so there is a lot of air and breathing space
After building a house, I think it is better to buy one already finished. There is absolutely no question that it is a lot faster and easier.
