SDSU Women's Studies

Cooperative Agreements

The Women’s Studies department has established exchange relationships with several universities. These include:

China: As part of the travel/study visits to China in 2001 and 2003, cooperative agreements were achieved with Beijing University and Szechuan University in Chengdu. The department hosted Professor Ji Min on her Fulbright project in 2001, and has supported development of a Women’s Studies Center in Chengdu. We have also hosted Professor Tao Jie, from Beijing University, and have accepted several students from China in the graduate program. Professors Mattingly, Ghosh, Cayleff and Huckle have participated in these programs.


Sweden: For four years, funded by the European STINT program, WS was involved in a faculty and student exchange program with Orebro University in central Sweden. Initiated by Prof. Kathy Jones (SDSU) and Prof. Gun Hedlund (Orebro), projects have involved exchanges of lecturers and students. Professors Ghosh, Espin, Cayleff, Zimmerman and Huckle have participated. Professors Ghosh, Jones and Huckle also designed and offered a distance learning course, with students from both SDSU and Orebro. Professor Jones continues her collaboration with Orebro, and is completing a research study which resulted from the grant.


India: Professors Ghosh and Mattingly have established contacts with and are working to finalize exchange agreements in India with Kanodia College in Jaipur, and Delhi University.


Mexico: SDSU has a formal exchange agreement in Oaxaca, Mexico with the Autonomous University Benito Juarez. Professor Huckle spent the Fall of 2002 in Oaxaca, on a Fulbright grant, working to assist in development of a gender studies program.
