Upward Bound Mentors
Each semester the Upward Bound Classic AND STAR Programs recruit mentors to work with local high school students. Three units of college credit are offered via enrollment in TE 362. Mentors:
  • Help high school students prepare for college.
  • Work with small groups after school.
  • Share personal experiences about college life, their struggles and successes.
  • Serve as positive role models.
  • Provide study skills and academic tutoring.
  • Make a difference in the lives of low-income, under-represented, and first-generation college students.
  • Enroll in TE 362, a service-learning class for mentor training and support (earn three units of college credit).

High Schools Served
Upward Bound Mentors will work in the Sweetwater Union High School District with the following high schools: Castle Park, Crawford, El Cajon Valley, Mar Vista, Morse, Mt. Miguel, Hoover, San Diego, and Southwest.
