The Pre-College Institute web site has been created to provide an online forum for communication between our programs, partners, staff, participants, and guests. At the Pre-College Institute, it is the goal of all our programs to:
- Help youth prepare for college.
- Focus on developing college survival skills.
- Raise career awareness through a variety of acivities.
- Provide local events that enrich the minds and souls of students.

Earn 3 units of credit for assisting middle/high school students and instructors in their classes and/or after school. Volunteer tutors will serve as mentors and role models to low-income, potential first-generation college, underrepresented students. Our program is geared toward encouraging all students to succeed in their educational goals and to pursue a college education. - British Teachers Visit the Pre-College Institute (2004)
In February of 2004, the Pre-College Institute had the honor of receiving a group of 13 British teachers and learning mentors to show around San Diego State University and three City Heights schools: Rosa Parks Elementary, Monroe Clark Middle, and Hoover High. The group was led by a different PCI staff member each day of their visit.
