Wild Rose Pottery, Bainbridge, Indiana - Self-employed. Built and operated studio pottery. Produced stoneware, porcelain, and salt-glazed work.

Richard Peeler, Reelsville, Indiana - Worked summers building kilns, making pottery, and doing woodworking.

ACADEMIC & NETWORK INTERESTS

Ceramics, including throwing, ceramic sculpture, kiln construction, ceramics materials, and ceramic science. Additional expertise includes photography, including large format, non-silver processes, computer imaging, and color photography. Interests and experience also include CAD, animation, and graphic design using the Apple Macintosh computer.

Author of HyperGlaze IIx ceramics database and glaze calculation software for the Macintosh computer. HyperGlaze has been reviewed in several ceramics publications and rated one of the best ceramics software programs in the world (see the bibliography section). Originated and maintain the SDSU CeramicsWeb information server at San Diego State University which provides worldwide access over the Internet to a wide variety of information about ceramics.

The CeramicsWeb has been reviewed in noted network publications like the The Scout Report (September 13, 1996, a publication of Net Scout Services, Computer Science Department, University of Wisconsin - A Project of the InterNIC), and Academe Today (March 29, 1996) the WWW publication of the Chronicle of Higher Education. The CeramicsWeb began as the Ceramics Gopher in 1993, and immediately gained worldwide attention as the first information server on the Internet for ceramic artists.

Working with the GlazeBase Project of NCECA to assemble an international database of glazes which are available on the CeramicsWeb.

Co-list owner of the ClayArt E-mail listserver, an international discussion group for ceramics operating on the BitNet and Internet. ClayArt can be reached ClayArt@lsv.uky.edu or as the newsgroup bit.listserv.clayart

Co-curated the Virtual Ceramics Exhibition with Prof. Joseph Molinaro of Eastern Kentucky University. This was the world's first juried ceramics competition on the World Wide Web. The exhibition was juried by William Hunt, USA, and Janet Mansfield, Australia, both noted ceramists and publishers, and featured 49 works by artist in four countries. Submissions were received from 183 artists in six countries. This seminal exhibition has gained worldwide attention and review. Linked through the CeramicsWeb (above).
