In Praise of the Mind
Robert Bly
It’s so lovely to
Do nothing, to be
Nothing, to be
A man with a small voice.
It’s good to admire Tacitus
And the big-nosed Romans.
They are still in that nook
Over there in the wall.
That square in Rome ?
Old Rembrandt prints
And broccoli, the divine
And a dear wife . . .
To have thoughts!
There is no end to
All this sweetness
Of being no one.
