PROVISIONAL CONFERENCE PROGRAM

2nd Annual Joint Student and Alumni Symposium
~ Stanford University ~ June 27-29, 2008

SYMPOSIUM INFORMATION
The 2008 Joint Student and Alumni Symposium will provide an opportunity for students and alumni from graduate liberal studies programs to come together to share their work, their experiences, and to foster the intellectual community that is at the core of all our programs.  We will begin with a casual Welcome Dinner Friday night and continue Saturday morning with a brief welcome address and then launch into a day of presentations and socializing. Sunday brings more presentations and the Symposium concludes with a no-host picnic lunch at Stanford’s Cantor Arts Center. The welcome dinner Friday night, lunch, breaks and the reception Saturday are hosted events. Breaks on Saturday include coffee, tea, water and snacks. All events will take place on the Stanford campus.

TRANSPORTATION

From out-of-town:
The Stanford Campus is roughly equidistant from the San Francisco International (SFO) and San Jose International (SJC) airports. Without traffic, each airport is a 30-40 minute drive from campus (and the hotels listed above).

There are several ways to get to campus/hotels from each airport including by train, bus, shuttle and taxi. Your chosen hotel can provide detailed information on the best way to get from either airport.

Stanford will provide morning and evening shuttle service to and from the two selected hotels to the symposium site on campus. We will also provide information about campus and the specific symposium location. More details will be provided later.

Walking to the symposium is also an option—it is a 15-30 minute walk from both hotels.

Local:
Parking on campus on the weekend is generally easy and free. More information on the closest lots will be provided at a later time.
