San Diego State University offers a specialization within the Master's Degree in General Linguistics. The M.A. in General Linguistics will prepare students either for a doctorate in theoretical, computational, or descriptive areas (such as computational linguistics, syntax, phonology, psycholinguistics, or sociolinguistics), or for a career in a language-related field in industry or education. Within the general specialization students may take courses with content in theoretical linguistics, descriptive linguistics, or computational linguistics.
