Three classes (9 units) required of all linguistics M.A. students:
Linguistics 521 Phonology (prerequisite: Ling 420 or 520)
or
Linguistics 621 (prequisite: Ling 521)
Linguistics 622 Discourse and Syntax (prerequisite: Ling 522)
Linguistics 795 Seminar in Linguistics -- with CL content.
Two classes (6 units) required for Computational linguistics:
Linguistics 581 Introduction to Computational Linguistics (prerequisite: Ling
571 or equivalent)
Linguistics 582 Computational Syntax and Semantics (prerequisite: Ling 522
or equivalent)
Electives
Two specialization classes (6 units) from the list below:
Linguistics 571 Computational Corpus Linguistics
Linguistics 596 Selected topics in linguistics (with CL content)
Linguistics 620 Advanced formal syntax. Introduction to unification grammar.
Linguistics 654 Language and cognition
Linguistics 681 Statistical methods in computational linguistics
Linguistics 696 Selected topics in linguistics (with CL content)
Additional classes appropriate to completion of the 30-unit program.
