Introduction to Blackboard Workshop

This hands-on workshop introduces you to the many features of Blackboard, and gives you a forum to ask questions. Among other things, you'll be introduced to our automated system, learn how to add content and graphics to a course site, and create folders. Although Blackboard is a relatively easy, point and click program, there are some basic procedures that all instructors should know. Even if you're a savvy computer user, this workshop will show you things that will save you time in the long run.

Introduction to Blackboard Workshops are offered at the beginning of each semester. If you are unable to attend a scheduled Introduction to Blackboard Workshop and would like to get started on your course site before the next scheduled workshop, please see our multimedia tutorial, The Blackboard Basics.

Additional Workshops

These workshops will give you the extra skills and tools you need to make your Blackboard course not just useful, but an interactive, communications-rich addition to your class.

The Blackboard Gradebook
This workshop will include posting grades for assignments and exams, choosing options for displaying grades, accessing the different gradebook views, adjusting or weighting gradebook items, exporting the gradebook to Excel, and viewing gradebook item statistics.
Prerequisite: Intro to Blackboard or Equivalent Knowledge

Using the Discussion Board as a Teaching and Learning Tool
Learn about discussion board mechanics along with learning activities you can use in your course discussion board to encourage student learning and engagement.

Blackboard Assessments (Blackboard Quizzes and Surveys)

Learn how to do online quizzes and surveys to check student learning, give students practice with learning endevors, and receive anonymous feedback.

How do I register?

Please submit the Workshop Registration Form.

What should I bring?

Just yourself (unless otherwise specified). Sample course materials will be used during all workshops, but there may be time available at the end of the workshops to answer specific questions, so if you would like to bring some of your own documents, please do so.
