Introduction
The Add Assignment feature provides an excellent way to collect student assignments (electronic documents such as MS Word files) and give students one-to-one feedback via Blackboard.
The Add Assignment feature is more effective:
- when a submitted assignment consists of one document, (e.g. a research paper or essay),
- the assignment will be submitted one time,
- and will be assigned a grade.
Overview
When an Assignment is created in a Content area, a column in the Blackboard Gradebook will automatically be created for that assignment.
When a student submits his or her paper via an Assignment link, an exclamation point (!) will show up in the assignment column of the Gradebook.
Faculty may then retrieve the assignment directly from the Gradebook by clicking this exclamation point (!). After examining the students work, they can then assign a grade and type feedback for the student to view.
Students can view their graded assignment and read feedback when checking their grades for the class.
Students check grades and receive feedback by first clicking on the My SDSU tab. Below the My SDSU tab is a tools section that contains the link, “View Grades.” After clicking this link, students see a list of their classes. After selecting the appropriate class, student then see their scores. Scores for assignments are underlined. Students should click this underlined score to view instructor feedback.
