Elsie Begler

   ISTEP STAFF

Dr. Elsie Begler, Director

   As founding director of ISTEP, Dr. Elsie Begler has spent the past twenty-three years (gettin' old!) working closely with schools, universities, educational agencies, and community and national organizations in developing programs designed to foment global education and improve international studies at the pre-collegiate level.  She has received graduate degrees from UCLA and Harvard University, and completed her Ph.D. in Anthropology at Columbia University.  She has published in a variety of anthropological and educational journals, and is a frequent presenter at professional conferences.

Happiest when on the road, Elsie has lived and/or travel in a lot of different places.  Here are a few pics of her in China and Thailand , traveling with her daughter.  When not globe trotting, she enjoys camping with her dog, Ripper.

Dae Elliott

Dae Elliott, Programs Coordinator

Dae received her masters in Sociology here at SDSU and continued on with her graduate work at UC Riverside.  She has taught for the Sociology and Political Science departments here for the last dozen or so years.  She likes to travel, hike, and escape to China Lake for rock art recording every chance she gets. She's always emphasized global understanding of social issues in her classroom and is excited to be on board!

Jaime Lynch

Jamie Lynch, Student Office Assistant

The newest addition, Jaimie is pursuing her BA in Anthropology and hopes to continue studying anthropology at the graduate level. Jamie is excited to help promote global education as a member of the support staff for ISTEP.
