Hank West

Biography


From 1955 to 1960, Mr. West was in the legal department of Convair as counsel to its Astronautics (Atlas Missile) Division of San Diego, California. From 1960-1967, he was general counsel and later (1967-1972) group vice president of Ampex Corporation in Redwood City, California. While at Ampex, Mr. West was responsible for, and personally engaged in, all licensing of the corporation's products and in this role engaged in extensive licensing of video recording and computer technology in Japan, England, France and Germany. As group vice president, his responsibilities included two operating divisions plus corporate legal/patent, administrative and personnel functions. He was active in the business and joint venture activities of the corporation and its subsidiaries in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil, Libya, Iraq and Iran.

From 1971 to 1975, he was president of Teledyne Trading Company -- a Teledyne Inc. subsidiary principally engaged in trade to and from Asia -- with offices in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipai and Kuala Lumpur.

Since 1975, Mr. West has been a partner in the law firm of Fenwick & West, a law firm with approximately 140 lawyers in Palo Alto and San Francisco, California and Washington D.C. The firm provides advice and legal services to high Tech domestic and international business. Mr. West's practice principally relates to Pacific Rim business transactions.
