
Robert J. Saldich retired as president and chief executive officer of Raychem Corporation on October 1, 1995. He joined Raychem in 1964 and launched Raychem's major European operations from 1966 to 1971. After returning from Europe, he managed various Raychem divisions and groups before he was appointed to join the Office of the President in 1983.
In 1986, Saldich was named chief executive of a new subsidiary, Raynet Corporation, formed to exploit new Raychem technology in the field of fiber-optic telecommunications. He served as president and CEO of Raynet until 1988, when he returned to Raychem as a senior vice president. On January 13, 1990, Saldich was elected president and CEO and a member of Raychem's board of directors.
Mr. Saldich served as the 1994 chairman of the American Electronics Association. He is Chairman for 1995/6 of the advisory board of the Leavey School of Business and Administration, Santa Clara University; and is a member of the board of directors of Conductus, Inc., which develops, manufactures and markets electronic systems and components based on superconductors. He serves on the Foundation for the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Saldich and his wife, Virginia, reside in Palo Alto, California.
Mr. Saldich received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rice University in 1956 and a master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School in 1961.
