In April,1993, the mayor of San Diego, Susan Golding, formed a committee to examine the importance of an advanced information infrastructure and the potential of San Diego becoming an international information city. In March 1994, after continual meetings of all involved, "San Diego: City of the Future, The Role of Telecommunications" was presented to the mayor. This document, produced by a committee consisting of political, business, and academic leaders from the San Diego County area, provides many detailed reccomendations for becoming the informational "city of the future." These recommendations are outlined below:
These committee recommendations were based on the findings of nine subcomittees. Those subcommittee findings are provided in detail, as well as identification of those individuals involved, within the document.
