Note: It is not necessary to complete these courses before taking upper division classes in this emphasis.



Major (13 units)

Required courses:

International Business 495: Internship -- 3 units cr/nc
International Business 498: Doing Business Internationally -- 1 unit cr/nc

(IB 498 is offered every semester in Spanish and in the spring semester only in all other languages. Arrange your schedule to take this required class. Prerequisite: one 300-level language course in your language emphasis).

and 9 units selected from the following, with no more than 6 units from one department:

Art 596: Art of Ancient Near East -- 3 units

** History 473A/B Middle Eastern History from the Rise of Islam to the Present -- 3/3 units

** History 488: Modern Jewish History -- 3 units

History 574: The Arab-Israeli Question, Past and Present -- 3 units

** Humanities 450: Arab-Islamic Civilization -- 3 units

** Political Science 363: Governments and Politics of the Middle East -- 3 units

** Religious Studies 340: Islam -- 3 units

+ Women's Studies 580: Women and International Development -- 3 units



+These courses may only be included in the major only with the written approval of the undergraduate adviser for International Business after review of the course syllabus (at least 1/3 of the course [5 weeks] must be devoted to the particular regional/cultural emphasis).

**One of these courses may cross-count in the Regional/Cultural Studies Emphasis and in General Education, IV: Explorations as a cultural diversity course. NOTE: ONLY ONE COURSE WITH TWO ** WILL CROSS-COUNT.
