Business Requirements


in Fall 2000! The cumulative GPA requirement for admission to the upper division portion of the International Business major will go up to 2.80.



I. BUSINESS


Preparation for the Major
(21 units)

Accounting 201: Financial Accounting Fundamentals -- 3 units

Accounting 202: Managerial Accounting Fundamentals -- 3 units

Economics 101: Principles of Economics (Macroeconomics) -- 3 units

Economics 102: Principles of Economics (Microeconomics) -- 3 units

Economics 201: Statistical Methods -- 3 units
OR
Stats 119: Elementary Statistics for Business -- 3 units

Finance 140: Legal Environment of Business -- 3 units

Information and Decision Systems 180: Principles of Information Systems -- 3 units



Before enrolling in any upper division courses in Business Administration, students must be admitted into the International Business major code (05131). In order to be admitted, students must have satisfied the following criteria:

  1. Have completed all Preparation for the Major courses in Business with a grade of C or better;

  2. Have completed all Preparation for the Major courses in the Language emphasis;

  3. Have completed a minimum of 56 units, and

  4. Have compiled a grade point average of 2.80 based on all courses attempted at SDSU and transferable courses at other universities, liberal arts colleges and community colleges.

  5. Have passed the SDSU mathematics and writing competency examinations.

After satisfying the above supplementary criteria, students must submit documentation (unofficial transcripts, grade cards, etc.) to the Academic Adviser before they may be admitted to the upper division Major.

 


Major
(28-30 units)

In addition to the seven required courses (Fin. 323 & 329, Mgmt. 350 & 405, IDS 302 and Mktg. 370 & 376), students choose to specialize in either Finance, Management or Marketing, and take an additional two courses at the 300/400 level in that area. Those specializing in Management must take Mgt. 357 as one of their additional courses.

Management 350: Management and Organization -- 3 units

Management 405: International Business Strategy and Integration -- 3 units
