Carolyn Roy
I am a product of San Diego State University, having received both the Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American Studies and Spanish and the Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies from SDSU. My doctoral studies in Latin American History began with a Regents’ Fellowship to UCSD and continued at UCLA with an emphasis in Colonial Latin America, complemented by studies in U.S. History and ethnohistory. Living for a number of years in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico, gave me new perspectives on both colonial and modern Mexico that especially inform the comparative history classes I teach.
