Aix-en-Provence, France

The program is affiliated with the Institut d'Etudes Françaises pour Etudiants Etrangers (IEFEE), an academic element of the Université de Droit, d'Economie, et des Sciences d'Aix-Marseille.
The length of the program is one academic year.

All participating students arrive in Aix-en-Provence at the end of August and begin their studies with a five-week Preparatory Language Program (PLP) conductedby the IEFEE. The PLP runs from approximately the beginning of September to the beginning of October. Students then transition almost immediately into the fall semester of instruction which runs from early October to late January. The spring semester begins in early February and runs to mid-May.
Two major vacation breaks occur during the year: late December through early January and late April through mid-May.

During the academic year, students follow an appropriate course of study according to their competence in French language skills. The three distinct academictracks offered are the Beginning, the Intermediate, and the Advanced. Applicants to the CSU International Programs in France are placed in an appropriate track atthe time of their admission to the program by the OIP staff.

Prerequisites:
Students participating in the Beginning Track must have completed at least one term of college-level French language study. The focus in the Beginning Track is on the rapid acquisition of language skills culminating in participation in lecture courses in French offered by the IEFEE.

The Intermediate Track provides students who have completed at least two years of college level French the opportunity to improve their French languageskills at an advanced level to pursue a wide range of studies in lecture courses offered by the IEFEE and the Institut d'Etudes Politiques.

Advanced Track students will have gained sufficient mastery of French language skills prior to departure for France to permit them to follow a course of studyoutside of the IEFEE, exclusively within the regular university curriculum. Graduate students who intend to pursue a graduate-level curriculum must be assigned to the Advanced Track.
