in Foods & Nutrition
Closely related to the teaching mission of the University is student and faculty research. Involvement in research ensures that both students and faculty maintain currency in their disciplines and fosters the advancement of knowledge. Located in a large and ethnically diverse metropolitan center bordering Mexico and on the Pacific Rim, the University uses the social, cultural, scientific, and technical resources of that region to enrich its teaching and research programs.

All School
undergraduate degree programs operate within the broad policies and specific
regulations established by San Diego State University. Because regulations
and procedures regarding admission are subject to change without notice, students
should consult the current issue of the SDSU General Catalog before applying.
The General Catalog can be accessed through the Internet or obtained from
the Aztec Shops Bookstore on campus or by mail from the Information Services
Foundation, San Diego State University. San Diego, CA 92182. There is a fee
for this catalog. Request current fees when you write.
SDSU Admission Information:
SDSU maintains
a website that contains information that will answer most questions that you
have. You should examine the different links to seek additional information
about the admission process: Admissions, Campus Information, Fees, Financial
Aid, Scholarships, Housing, Educational Opportunity Programs, Getting Started,
Freshman Success. Should you have questions that are unanswered, please contact
the appropriate campus office, or contact the Exercise and Nutritional Sciences
advisors for assistance.
Declaring a Major:
When you apply to the University, you should identify Kinesiology or Foods
and Nutrition on the CSU application form. After enrolled, those interested
in Kinesiology should see the Undergraduate Advisors to declare your specific
emphasis (e.g., Athletic Training).

Does the Pre-Physical Therapy emphasis enable you to be a Physical Therapist?
No. After completing the Pre-Physical Therapy emphasis, you would apply to post-graduate education at a Master's degree physical therapy program. Undergraduate degrees leading to a degree in physical therapy are being phased out in favor of either a Master's degree or a Doctoral degree.
Where do I declare my emphasis?
The Undergraduate Advisor will sign the form which you must then file with the SDSU Admissions Office.
Where do I get an add code for ENS398?
The Undergraduate Advisor controls the add codes for ENS 398. You can get the form for the practicum experience from the School Office. You should get the agreement of the practicum site before taking the form to the Undergradate Advisor.
Where do I get an add code for ENS 499?
The School Director controls the add codes for ENS 499. You can get the form for the Special Study from the School Office. You should get the agreement of the fulltime faculty member with whom you are going to be working before taking the form to the School Director.
