Singaporte National Institute of Education

The Singapore National Institute of Education (NIE) is a dynamic institution located in the city-state of Singapore. The Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) academic group is a division of the National Institute of Education and is tasked with training Physical Education teachers for the various schools and institutions in Singapore. Formerly known as the School of Physical Education (SPE), we were renamed as PESS in a corporate move by the NIE. There is a high degree of course compatibility between that School's degree offerings and those of the Department of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at SDSU.

The timing of semesters between SDSU and NIE is acceptably similar to allow students to study at the other institution while maintaining normal calendar progress toward degree completion.

At SDSU the Fall Semester is normally scheduled from mid to late August through to mid to late December, and the Spring Semester is from mid to late January through to mid to late May across two calendar years. Actual dates can be accessed through the SDSU Academic Calendar.
At NIE the First Semester is normally scheduled from late July through to late November, and the Second Semester is from early January through to early May across two calendar years. Actual dates can be accessed through the Acedemic Calendar web page.

The following table is presented as a general guideline about courses that are deemed by SDSU faculty to be compatible between the two institutions. It is possible that some of the course-availability information included is not accurate for a particular academic year. The specific academic calendars and course offerings at either institution for a particular semester should be consulted to confirm exact course availability.
