My areas of professional interest center around two major themes. One area involves research on the education of athletic trainers. Specifically, I have been involved with the development of instructional media, and examination of the effectiveness of instructional technology in the classroom. In addition, I strive to continually examine and improve the athletic training curriculum at San Diego State University. My second area of interest involves research examining functional performance and aging. My particular area of expertise concerns muscular strength and balance performance as a function of aging.

Geographically, I have migrated to California from Texas, Michigan, Colorado, and Virginia. While I have enjoyed the culture and climate of each of these states, I feel fortunate to have found a stable home in San Diego. I have two beautiful children, Annamarie (DOB: 1998) and Eric, Jr. (DOB: 2000). I stay very busy being an active parent and enjoy traveling all over the country visiting family and friends. In my spare time, I keep a healthy body and mind through walking, horse back riding, reading, and prayer meditation.
