The Undergraduate Program at SDSU
San Diego State University seeks to provide a well-balanced, high quality education for undergraduate students. An environment is provided that encourages intellectual development coupled with personal growth. The environment is designed to help students learn about themselves, their cultural and social heritage, and their physical environment. SDSU is concerned about developing well-rounded leaders in cultural, economic, educational, scientific, social, and technical fields. It is quite important to the Department's faculty that students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills that lead to graduation.

Closely related to the teaching mission of the University is student and faculty research. Involvement in research ensures that both students and faculty maintain currency in their disciplines and fosters the advancement of knowledge. Located in a large and ethnically diverse metropolitan center bordering Mexico and on the Pacific Rim, the University uses the social, cultural, scientific, and technical resources of that region to enrich its teaching and research programs.
