THE JOE GILLIS INTERNSHIP IN WRITING AND ENTERTAINMENT
A Joint Next-Generation Cultural Studies Project by the Department of
English & Comparative Literature, San Diego State University and
Nash Entertainment, Hollywood
Looking for a unique way to put that English degree to use? Thinking
about an alternative to graduate school or teaching? Or do you just
like movies and reality shows? If you answered yes to any of those
questions, then consider the first annual Joe Gillis Internship your
chance to gain unique experience in the world of Film and TV.
"The Industry" has always and will forever hold in
high regard men and women with a critical understanding of fundamental
storytelling - whether it be on the page of a script, story analysis
(the stepping stone of every producer worth his or her salt), or in the
edit bay (where the real magic happens). There are a wide range of
career paths to be had in the world of entertainment, and this
internship is designed to expose you to as many as possible in the
comfort of a Los Angeles summer.
The internships begin July 1st and will run approximately 6 weeks
(duration being flexible, given individual and production schedules).
Production companies may include: Nash Entertainment (Who Wants to Be a
Superhero - SciFi; Amazing Sports Stories - FSN) and others!
You don't have to be a film or TV major to find exciting, lucrative
work in the world of entertainment. If you are an English or
Comparative Literature major you have a unique skill set that cannot be
overstated! Joe Gillis had a dream when he came to Hollywood, he just
didn't have a plan. Don't be like Joe. This internship in his honor is
all the entrée you need. Positions are limited so don't wait.
