Living Writers Series is one of the longest continuously running
reading series in the nation, and our exciting spring schedule begins
soon. These events will complement your students’
experience and relationship with writing and literature.
Please
encourage your students to attend, pass around the fliers for the
events, post them on your office door. Thank you for your

Wednesday, March 11: Suzanne Lummis
Present
and Founding Director of the Los Angeles Poetry Festival, Suzanne
Lummis’ collection of poems, In Danger, was selected for the
California Poetry Series.

Jericho
Brown’s first book, Please, was recently published to wide
acclaim. He teaches at University of San Diego, and
SDSU’s
MFA students are fortunate to study with him this spring.

Wednesday, April 15: The Laurie Okuma Memorial Reading featuring
Amy
Uyematsu
Award-winning
poet, Amy Uyematsu, is the author of three collections of poetry,
including the most recent, Stone Bow Prayer. She is a sansei
(third-generation Japanese) and lives near Los Angeles.

Prize Winner, Afaa Michael Weaver, has published ten books of poetry,
including the recent title, Plum Flower Dance: poems 1985 to
2005.

Wednesday, April 29: Harold Jaffe
& Stephen-Paul Martin
SDSU
MFA Faculty authors present an evening of fiction. Harold
Jaffe
‘s latest docufictional novel is Jesus Coyote, based on the
Manson murders. Stephen-Paul Martin has published over twenty
books of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction.
Reading events are FREE and OPEN to the public.
With few exceptions, events are held in SDSU’s Love Library,
Room 430 at 7:00pm.
