EMC WebCompass Program
Undergraduate Senior Internship in Digital Marketing
The Entrepreneurial Management Center's (EMC) WebCompass is an internship program that involves 3 colleges within San Diego State University. The goal of this semester long internship is to create a dynamic team of students majoring in business, graphic/web design, and computer science to complete a website-based project for regional non-profits.
This internship takes place over the course of an academic semester and entails about 75 hours to complete. Interns are hired and paid by the EMC and all meetings will take place in the EMC boardroom located on campus.
How the Program Works
Phase One: The EMC works with the College of Business Administration, College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts and the College of Science to identify ideal students for the internship. Once the students have been selected, non-profit organizations are selected to participate in the program. After completing a project analysis, one organization will be selected for each student team. The EMC will then coordinate a "kick-off" meeting with the clients and selected interns.
Phase Two: At this meeting, the non-profit's representative will present an overview of their organization as well as communicate their objectives. In addition, the student team, the EMC, and the client will also do a walkthrough of their current website, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. The client indicates their core target market and any other strategic initiatives.

A final meeting will be held to present the final product. Upon approval, the website is launched and the project would be complete.
