EMC Internship Program

Employer Non-Profit

The Qualcomm EMC Social Entrepreneur Internship Program at San Diego State University matches talented graduate business students with nonprofit organizations. Interns work with the organization's senior management to improve performance and achieve their goals through entrepreneurial initiatives. In early 1999, The Kauffman Foundation provided SDSU's Entrepreneurial Management Center with seed money to launch a social entrepreneur internship initiative with the goal of securing permanent local funding. Later that year, the EMC announced a grant from its partner Qualcomm, Inc. to continue the social internship program.

The internships unite academic, corporate and social concepts in entrepreneurship for a unique educational MBA experience. Over the course of the internship, students identify a strategic objective, perform related business analysis and develop a substantive report. SDSU faculty advisors act as facilitators and Qualcomm employees mentor the interns to enable agency implementation of recommended courses of action.

Why Hire a SDSU MBA Intern?

SDSU graduate students are hungry for real-world experience in a dynamic environment and will apply talent and expertise to your strategic initiatives. A SDSU MBA intern is capable of:

- developing marketing strategy- operations review and assessment
- business plan analysis- performing strategic product analysis
- financial analysis & modeling- competitive marketplace due diligence

These types of strategic projects can be completed at a fraction of the costs associated with new hires or engaging consultants. EMC internships are all paid opportunities and typically last 150 hours per semester. Based on Qualcomm's generosity, the non-profit organization is only responsible to cover $1,950 of the internship costs.
