EMC Internship Program
Information for Students
PLEASE REVIEW THE BELOW GUIDELINES FOR ALL EMC EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES PRIOR TO SEARCHING INTERNSHIPS/JOBS:
The EMC facilitates numerous employment opportunities (e.g. internship, graduate and research assistant, and part-time consulting positions) for currently enrolled SDSU students. Typically, the Center hires up to 100 students per year to work with regional entrepreneurial companies, non-profit organizations, and technology innovators. The Center also hires students to work on EMC programs and strategic initiatives. Below describes information about the application process for all EMC for-profit, non-profit, graduate assistant, CCAT and other related internship/employment opportunities. Most positions tend to be targeted toward graduate business students, but all currently enrolled SDSU students with qualified experience are encouraged to submit applications.
Earning Course Credit
In order to earn graduate course credit for an internship, you must enroll in either:
- BA 780 - Field Studies in Business, or
- BA 798 - Special Study

Center for the Commercialization of Advanced Technology
CCAT accepts rolling applications from students interested in working on teams to perform market research studies. The CCAT program is designed to fast-track Department of Defense, industry and academic technologies into commercial and/or defense related markets (http://www.ccatsandiego.org). These positions offer many benefits to students, including employment through the SDSU Foundation at $13.70/hour, flexible hours ranging from 5-20 per week, development of valuable research skills, and familiarity with process of conducting strategic assessments of technologies. PLEASE NOTE: you must also complete the application and send it to the EMC at emc@projects.sdsu.edu CCAT faculty supervisors will contact you directly if interested in conducting an interview. If a match is made, paperwork is coordinated through the EMC and the student is hired through SDSU Foundation.

QUALCOMM EMC Social Entrepreneur Internship Program
The QUALCOMM EMC Social Entrepreneur Internship Program places second-year MS/MBA students (must have completed the core courses or equivalent) with non-profit organizations as 'intern-consultants' each semester and summer to perform strategic analysis or project management. This unique opportunity teams interns up with faculty advisors, a mentor from QUALCOMM and the non-profit agency. Internships pay $15/hour for 150 hours (10 - 20 hours/week) and may be eligible for course credit. PLEASE NOTE: You must also complete the application located at (Application) and send it to EMC Internship Program Director at emc@projects.sdsu.edu in addition to your resume. Applications for the Summer 2008 program are due Friday, May 11th. Interviews are coordinated through the EMC and are scheduled for Friday, May 30th at SDSU's Career Services. An on-campus kick off breakfast meeting will be held on Friday, June 6th for interns and organizations. If a match is made, paperwork is coordinated by the EMC and the student is hired through SDSU Foundation.

EMC Entrepreneur Internship/Consulting/Fellowship Programs
The EMC develops paid internships with regional entrepreneurial for-profit companies and also non-profit agencies on a year-round basis. Currently available positions are posted on our Internships Listings. If you are interested in applying for one or more positions, please email your resume to Keely Bamberg at kbamberg@projects.sdsu.edu with the specific positions. Assuming your background meets preferred criteria according to the employer, your resume will be forwarded to the host organization. The organization will contact those candidates they are interested in interviewing directly. If a match is made, paperwork is coordinated by the EMC and the student is hired through SDSU Foundation.

Non EMC-Sponsored Employment Opportunities
These paid and unpaid positions are NOT managed through the EMC, but are posted as a courtesy to the companies and organizations. Many companies are SDSU alumni-founded, and while they may offer excellent entrepreneurial learning opportunities, these internship positions are not appropriate to coordinate through our Center (e.g. they prefer to pay students directly, or the position is unpaid).
