Education

The Entrepreneurial Management Center has developed a dynamic range of experiential learning opportunities that complement and expand upon the curriculum. Providing students with first-hand entrepreneurial situations and access to entrepreneurs is invaluable experience. Each EMC program assists in translating knowledge from the classroom to hands-on business practice.

The Center for the Commercialization of Advanced Technologies (CCAT) engages students in research to evaluate the real-world commercial applicability of technologies developed for the purpose of national defense.

Internship Opportunities with regional entrepreneurial companies and non-profit organizations immerse students in strategic projects.

Venture Challenge, the EMC’s annual international student business plan competition, provides first-hand experience in the development and presentation of business plans, essential entrepreneurial skills.

The student-run Entrepreneur Society offers a unique forum for students, faculty, industry and government to exchange ideas and form relationships that will foster entrepreneurship in the local community.

Entrepreneurs-in-the-Classroom brings local, national and international entrepreneurs into the classroom as guest speakers to share their experiences, offer insight, and discuss course concepts relevant to their backgrounds.

Entrepreneur(s)-in-Residence places individuals with significant entrepreneurial experience in close proximity to graduate students for one or more semesters.

The EMC encourages students to join SDSU teams and compete in sponsored collegiate business competitions. These competitions offer students the opportunity to compete for venture capital or act as venture capitalists in evaluating real business plans. Competition opportunities include:

The L.Robert Payne Distinguished Entrepreneur Lectureship Series brings an outstanding entrepreneur to SDSU each year to lecture and interact with students, faculty, and invited representatives from the regional entrepreneurial sector.
