Brian Takes Over

That's right. Vice President Brian is taking over today's meeting in more ways than one. Dan can't be there so Brian will be exercising his veep-ly duties as well as holding a seminar in some acting preparation/rehearsal games he learned while at the Royal National Theatre this summer. Find out the mystery of the paper cup at Scripps Cottage today at noon!

Other info about upcoming meetings:

Dan and Patrick will be teaching Street Theatre including juggling and balloon sculpture. Bring your own juggle-ables next week, October 9!

Sam Warren will hopefully give us his talk about working in TV and film on the 16th.

We'll have a business meeting on the 23rd to help us get organised for the 72nd Anniversary of Skull and Dagger (anybody feel that old?)

Marilyn Green, costumer from the Old Globe, will be here November 6th.

Our own Alexander Movement teacher, Maria Carrera will be having a lecture on November 20th.

And hopefully we'll be able to schedule a time for Michael Pugh and Jeff Hamilton to talk about their experiences at the British Academy of Dramatic Arts (BADA) when someone deigns to tell me when (hint, hint).

72nd Anniversary

It's coming up sooner than you think! We're still not sure what it is we'll be doing and we need your advice and opinions! Should we go for a formal ceremony or be the typical harried drama students we are? If we stroll down memory lane, how will we do it? Who will help us set up? It's been suggested we have some form of Class Competition (Frosh, Sophs, Juniors, Seniors, Grads) to commemorate the day: Professor Imitations! Design a Show in 5 Minutes or Less! 7-Legged Race! Help us decide how to make our Anniversary, November 3rd, a day to remember!

(Well, technically the Anniversary is November 1st, but that's a Wednesday and who can do anything on a Wednesday?)

Concessions

We still need help to run concessions for Atlantis and Romeo and Juliet will be on us before we know it. C'mon, folks! Support your drama club. It's an easy way to see the shows, earn some money for Skull and Dagger, and get something to put on your resume (you'll have cash-handling experience!)

Trivia Contest

Now, I must accede to Tracy Hinman who points out that while Stephen Sondheim is a great writer, not all the musical quotes should be from him. Quite true. However, I come up with these quotes on the spur of the moment...usually when I'm listening to the cast album and by coincidence, both times have been a Sondheim show. Be grateful it wasn't Cats. Besides, I thought I'd take it easy on you people and give you a great big hint at the title in the clue: The correct answer was Sunday in the Park with George, by Stephen Sondheim. And the winner this week of a half pound of coffee is: Derek A. Burrill! The competition is hot for first place with five people having two correct answers: C.J., Lisa P., Melissa, Tim, and Tracy.

Oh, and by the way...entries should be marked to Brian, not Dan, since Brian's the Editor of the newsletter and is running the contest. Entries to the S&D box (preferably the Newsletter box) upstairs:
