The Dagger's Edge

February 5th, 1996

Meeting!

Our first topic meeting of the year is this Wednesday, February 28th at Scripp's Cottage at noon. Come hear Jeff Hamilton and Michael O'Connor talk about their experience with the British Academy of Dramatic Arts. Thus, we continue in a long (OK...this makes twice), fine tradition of British acting!

Tragic Food

Yes, An American Tragedy is about to open March 8 (What?!? We've only got a week-and-a-half? AUGH!) and we'll be needing people to run concessions and help Skull and Dagger make some money. Be sure to sign up when the list comes out (if it isn't out already...sometimes my powers of perception are a bit limited.)

Full Length Congrats

Congratulations to all who got cast in this year's Full Length, Marisol. If you didn't get in, well, we're sorry, but we'd really like it if you would help us out by working as crew for the show.

We'll be needing lighting crew, set crew, costume crew, props people, all sorts of stuff in order to pull this one off. So, get your duffs off the chair and help us out!

You'll Have to Wait for Godot

That's right. You heard me correctly. Waiting for Godot is sold out. If you need to see it for a paper, you'll have to either usher for it or get yourself on a waiting list.

You have been warned.

Trivia

Only one person entered this week. And, Tim Heitman got most, but not all, of the question correctly. The questions, and answers:

What is the longest running:

Production in London?
Mousetrap.

What is special about it?
It's the longest running production in history, US or UK.

Musical in London?
Cats

What is its significance to New York?
Since the New York production opened shortly after the London production, it is about to overtake A Chorus Line for the longest running Broadway show.

Musical, London or New York?
The Fantasticks in New York.

Why might it "not count"?
It's Off-Broadway and in a fairly small theatre.

So, congratulations to Tim Heitman for getting 5 out of 6. You people need to start entering...So far, the race is only between Tim and Paul Morgavo...and it's 8 to 2.

And now to this week's trivia contest:

What was the original name of Imamu Amiri Baraka?

What was his 63-64 Obie award-winning play?

What type of theatre is he credited with?

Good luck!
