3.2. LOVE AT OLD AGE

"Congcong, let’s go, grandpa is taking you to the kindergarten."

"I am not going, grandpa, I am not going, the kindergarten teacher wants me to perform. I don’t want to perform. I am not going."

On hearing this, Grandpa really got worried . It was decided as early as last Saturday . On Monday he would take Congcong to the kindergarten, he would then go to ‘her’ place. Who would have thought that today Congcong is particularly difficult, and is not willing to go, no matter what you do. He could not help but sigh: think of the old days, when he could command a whole regiment. Now he could not even command a five years old grandson.

Therefore, he had no choice but took Congcong to go to ‘her’ with him. "She" lived close to the Beihai park. Although she has only a small room, but the room is very tidy and clean. In front of the room is also planted all kinds of pretty flowers and plants.

He pushed the door open and entered, asking Congcong to say "Grandma".

"Grandma"---Congcong sweetly called out.

She was taken aback, had never thought that he would bring Congcong. "Eh", she hurriedly pulled Congcong over and asked him to sit down, then brought out with both hands a bowl of egg custard. This bowl of egg custard originally had been cooked for ‘him’. Since Congcong was here, then one bowl was divided into two, letting him and Congcong each have half a bowl.

He ate a mouthful of egg custard and let out a sigh. "Ai, Sunday is the worst. Son and daughter in law are both home, and it feels embarrassing to come out, but I always think of you."

"Wait till one day you explain the situation to them, and we will go and register, everything will be fine." She said.

Little Congcong looked with bewilderment at grandpa and then at "grandma", not knowing what they meant by "register". He only knew that as soon as grandpa and grandma "register", he would have egg custard to eat. Therefore, he hoped that they would go to "register" everyday, this way he definitely could eat egg custard everyday.

Because he had met a good grandma, Congcong must play till after dinner and would not leave until then. After dinner, grandpa and grandson finally went home, Congcong walking and singing, happy as can be.

But they did not know that at home everything had been turned upside down.

It turns out that the kindergarten teacher saw that Congcong did not come for the whole day and got worried. After work she hurried to Congcong’s home, wanting to see if Congcong was sick. This really worried Congcong’s mom to death.

"It’s all your fault! It’s all your fault! You yourself did not take the kid and insisted on going to work so early. Now look what happens, the grandpa went to send the grandson and got lost even himself! Woo..."

"Mom, Dad," Congcong suddenly pushed open the door, and run dashing in. As soon as the Mom saw the precious son she came forward immediately to hold the kid and asked, with both joy and worry: "My darling son, where did you do, tell mom quick."

"To grandma’s home", Congcong happily said. "Grandma is really nice. She gave me egg custard to eat and took me to the park to play and also said she would make grandpa clothes."

The young couple first looked at each other and then together looked at the grandpa, thinking: "where did this grandma come from? How come we never heard about it?" However, it is not proper to ask clearly.

"It is like this," the old grandpa looked at them awkwardly and said: "I found a grandma for Congcong. We two got along very well. You two young couple talk about it. If you don’t have objections, then we will switch her room over to here; if you have objections, then I will move to her place."

The son felt awkward on hearing it, but found it very hard to oppose, so he looked at his wife.

It is actually the daughter in law that is quicker in thinking. She thought the grandpa could not go. Who would look after Congcong if he left? It would not be bad too for the grandma to come. She must be more capable than the grandpa. Furthermore she could bring a room. So she quickly expressed her attitude: "Dad, when we got married, you never objected. You now want to get married, how can we oppose? I agree a hundred per cent!"

"Right! We totally agree!" the son immediately said. Needless to say, little Congcong also voluntarily raised his hand.
