2.1. I am a vocational high school student
I am a vocational high school student studying accounting. Compared with unemployed youths, I am a lucky star.
Do you understand unemployed youths? After graduation from junior high school, they would like to go on studying but can’t pass the entrance exam; they would like to find work but cannot find it. They have to wait at home. They are extremely distressed. I on the other hand not only have school to go to but also have a good job right after graduation---being an accountant. Now there is a shortage of accountants in the society. We accounting majors are hot merchandise. No matter who, when they hear that I am studying accounting, they all say: Good.
It is good, I don’t deny it, but I also have headaches. Because our school is a vocational school, therefore the courses that need to be taken are many. Accounting classes, like the principle of accounting, economics, business management and so on, of course have to be taken. Courses for ordinary high schools also have to be taken. Everyday, apart from attending classes, I have to do homework, and there is very little time to participate in other activities. In addition, the school also has the regulation that if the exams for two major classes are not passed then the vocational high school student standing will be revoked. This really was such a load that made us unable to breathe. Sometimes I really can’t take it any more. But when I think of those people of the same age that are unemployed, I would feel that I am very lucky. Therefore, I will forget my trouble and worry and feel sorry for them instead.
We vocational high school students can put to use what we learned right after we learn it. For example, in our class, there are a few students, who use the summer vocation to do books and inspect warehouses for individual entrepreneurs. The work is light and novel, practical and lucrative. There are also a few students of fine arts, who paint ads for the products of some company, and get over a hundred dollars each time. It is really a good assignment that ‘kills two birds with one stone’.
Now there is only one year left before graduation. I would like to take part in the national college entrance exam next year. After studying for over 10 years, it would be a pity if I don’t go for the exam. Maybe I will be accepted. If I am not, then I won’t feel too bad, because I will have made the effort. If I don’t pass, then I will be an accountant. That would not be bad either.
