1. List the winners of the various awards in the Golden Rooster/Hundred Flowers Award piece on page 62 (e-text and annotations online) in the same format as the 2006 and 2003 Oscar Nomination List piece (e-text and annotations online for 2003 list). Find all the written style expressions and translate them into spoken counterparts. List all the characters that have both traditional and simplified styles (hand-written)

2. Write a short report in the same format as the 2001 Oscar report (the short paragraph on the top of the webpage, annotations available). You can write about this year’s Oscar. List all the characters that have both traditional and simplified styles (hand-written)

3. Form 4 two character compounds with each of the 10 following characters. Then provide pronunciation and meaning for each compound. You can use the entertainment vocabulary handout (e-text and annotations online) for help:

4. Find three headlines on entertainment and comment on why you chose these headlines (special language, special event, special point of view etc.)
