Dialect maps of China

 

It is unfortunate that good dialect maps are hard to find on the web.  The ones I have found are not too satisfactory.  But here they are:

 

The best I could find is the following from Crystal, D. 1992’s description of Chinese dialects.  But I had to do some doctoring to make the labels more legible.  Click here to see it.

The following map includes other languages spoken in and around China, but the Chinese dialects are not as finely differentiated:
