Lesson 7
Dialogue I
(Wang Peng is talking with Li You.)
Wang Peng: How did you do on last week's exam?
Li You: Pretty well. Because you helped me review, I did pretty well, but the
teacher said I was too slow in writing the Chinese characters.
Wang Peng: Really~ I'll practice writing characters with you from now on. I'll teach
you how to write Chinese characters. How is that?
Li You: That would be great! Let's do it right now. Here's a pen.
Wang Peng: OK, I'll teach you how to write the character "nan (difficult)".
Li You: You write characters really well, and fast, too.
Wang Peng: You flatter me. Do you have Chinese tomorrow?
Li You: Yes. Tomorrow we'll study Lesson Seven.
Wang Peng: Have you prepared it?
Li You: Yes. I have. The grammar in Lesson Seven is very easy. I can understand
all of it, but there are too many new words, and the Chinese characters are
rather difficult, too.
Wang Peng: Let me practice with you tonight.
Li You: Great. Thank you.
Wang Peng: Don't mention it. See you tonight.
Dialogue II
(Li You is talking with Xiao Bai.)
Li You: Xiao Bai, you usually come very early. How come you got here so late
today?
Xiao Bai: Yesterday I was preparing Chinese. I didn't go to bed till one o'clock.
Did you go to bed very late, too?
Li You: No, yesterday I went to bed at ten. Because Wang Peng helped me
practice Chinese, I finished my homework very quickly.
Xiao Bai: It's great to have a Chinese friend.
(In the Chinese class)
Teacher: Good morning, everyone. Let's begin. Have you all prepared Lesson
Seven?
Students: Yes, we have.
Teacher: Li You, would you please read the text aloud? You read very well. Did
you listen to the tape recording last night?
Li You: No, I didn't.
Xiao Bai: But her friend often helps her.
Teacher: Is your friend Chinese?
Li You: Yes.
Xiao Bai: It's a he. He is really handsome. His name is Wang Peng.
