This video begins with health care professionals describing and discussing the power of touch and the benefits of infant massage for children's healthy growth and development, as well as the creation of a special bond between parent and child. The tape illustrates various aspects of massage, including finding the best time for massage, positioning, soothing techniques, and using massage with babies with special needs. In three separate segments, the tape shows parents (including a father) demonstrating massage routines appropriate for babies at different developmental stages. Parents show respect for their babies by asking permission to touch, reading nonverbal cues, and responding sensitively. Viewers are encouraged to check with medical and therapeutic specialists before massaging a baby.
