A number of our graduates have demonstrated significant evidence of leadership in the community and have been elected to the 1996-98 Executive Committee for the San Diego Association for the Education of Young Children (the local chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children).
As we reflect on our alumni list, a number of threads become apparent. First, that teaching as a profession has been a strong and continuous thrust of our program for the past two decades. A large number of our undergraduate students go on to complete a teaching credential with the B.S. in Child Development as their undergraduate degree preparation. We are strongly represented in elementary education, community colleges and universities. Our alumni are clearly teaching throughout San Diego County and Southern California.
Second, a great number of our alumni have risen to administrative roles in their careers: from positions as Director of Child Programs to Deans of Colleges. During the late 1980's and continuing into the 1990's we see evidence of a greater "variety" of professional positions. There seems to be a branching out or diversification in response to economic trends and societal shifts. You see various agency roles emerging, continuation into graduate work, and a high degree of creativity in the development of their own child-related businesses.
Our conclusion from this analysis is that we feel a large degree of pride in both our faculty and our alumni. They are working in the field. We have prepared them with a significantly broad skill base enabling them to make transitions to different areas in response to the shifting economies, shifting trends in society.

Here is the list of alumni biographies in chronological order from 1970 to the present. Feel free to browse through the list, find your friends or look for an example to model your own biography after. We like humor, so don't feel they have to be so "academic" okay? Keep in mind that this alumni list is in it's infancy, and that everyone's input is important. If you do not have an entry in the directory, please register on line with our easy-to-use-form. If you are in contact with other alums, please let them know about it!
