MGT 401 LEARNING ACTIVITY CONTRACT

Company Description

I will participate in a three month internship with Meet Anywhere, Inc. They are a full service meeting and event planning company that guarantees they save clients time and money while providing superior service and exceeding client expectations. The company’s extensive industry experience and knowledge ensures many resources, low costs, and extra amenities. Meet Anywhere strives to provide value and build life long partnerships with their clients, vendors, and colleagues. Ultimately, their goal is to ensure a successful and memorable meeting or event at the lowest possible cost.

This internship will provide me with hands on experience and knowledge in the following areas: hotel contracts, vendor contracts, site selection, negotiations, venue search, invitation/meeting material development, and much more. I will experience one-on-one meetings with the CEO, shadow colleagues on site inspections of venues, and more. To fulfill the requirements for MGT 401, I will pursue five learning activities described below.

Learning Objectives

  1. I will learn the company’s database management system – ACT by February 14, 2003. I will become familiar with the ACT program, review ACT manuals, and input information, such as vendors and client contact information. ACT is a crucial part of the company; every employee must know the system. I will provide sample reports signed by my supervisor in my report as evidence of my ability to use ACT.
  2. I will learn what information the company needs from hotels, identify hotels that meet our requirements, and then create a hotel contact database by February 28, 2003.
I will ask our employees what we need from a hotel and then research what hotels throughout the United States can meet our expectations. The objective of my research is to prioritize the hotels and get the most recent contact information including full mailing address, direct phone numbers, and contact names. I will then compile this information in a binder and then input it into ACT. I will generate a report and submit it to my supervisor for signature and include it in my report as evidence of my successfully completing this objective.
  3. I will learn how to satisfy client requests by March 21, 2003.
This task implies that I will learn what clients require. I will get to participate in several different activities helping clients to learn their requirements. For example, I will help clients find proper site locations such as major hotels; determine hotel rates and put hotels on hold; set up ground transportation; and arrange transportation to and from off site events. I will then use this information to create a system of client fulfillment and provide sample forms signed by my supervisor in my report as evidence of the system that I created.
  4. I will learn the most common types of arrangements we provide and then develop a Theme Binder for the company by April 4, 2003.
I will research what arrangements have been most requested by consulting with the sales and operations team. I will then develop themes and gather information from vendors and hotels regarding specific details and pricing. I will include copies of theme information sheets that I develop in my report as evidence of my learning the themes most relevant to Meet Anywhere. These will be signed by my supervisor.
  5. I will learn the current feedback systems and recommend ways to improve Customer Satisfaction by April 22, 2003. I will meet with sales department personnel and discuss the current feedback system. I will analyze the existing system and any historical data available from clients, and then develop ways to improve the current system. I will describe recommendations in my report and attach samples of the system that I develop as evidence of my completing this objective. My supervisor will sign these samples.
