BA 780 LEARNING ACTIVITY CONTRACT

Company Description

I will participate in a three month internship with Meet Anywhere, Inc. They are a full service meeting and event planning company that guarantees they save clients time and money while providing superior service and exceeding client expectations. The company’s extensive industry experience and knowledge ensures many resources, low costs, and extra amenities. Meet Anywhere strives to provide value and build life long partnerships with their clients, vendors, and colleagues. Ultimately, their goal is to ensure a successful and memorable meeting or event at the lowest possible cost.

This internship will provide me with hands on experience and knowledge in the following areas: hotel contracts, vendor contracts, site selection, negotiations, venue search, invitation/meeting material development, and much more. I will experience one-on-one meetings with the CEO, shadow colleagues on site inspections of venues, and more. To fulfill the requirements for BA 780, I will pursue five learning activities described below.

Learning Objectives

  1. I will learn the company’s database management system – ACT by February 14, 2003. I will become familiar with the ACT program, review ACT manuals, and input information, such as vendors and client contact information. ACT is a crucial part of the company; every employee must know the system. I will provide sample inputs, queries, and reports requested by my supervisor in my report as evidence of my ability to use ACT.
  2. I will learn the Hotel Contact Database by February 28, 2003.
I will conduct research on several hotels throughout the United States. The objective of my research is to prioritize the hotels and get the most recent contact information including full mailing address, direct phone numbers, and contact names. I will then compile this information in a binder for use by everyone. I will submit the binder to my supervisor for approval and provide in my report a Table of Contents signed by my supervisor as evidence of my successfully completing this task.
  3. I will learn how to satisfy client requests by March 21, 2003.
I will get to participate in several different activities helping clients. For example, I will help clients find proper site locations such as major hotels; determine hotel rates and put hotels on hold; set up ground transportation; and arrange transportation to and from off site events. I will summarize in writing all client requests and present this document to my supervisor for her signature. I will attach this approved summary in my report as evidence of my completion of this task.
  4. I will learn the main events themes used by my company by April 4, 2003.
I will help develop a theme binder with the sales and operations team to help streamline the proposal process. This will consist of gathering information from vendors and hotels regarding specific themes, and creating a binder with detailed information regarding themes and pricing. I will present my ideas to my supervisor in the form of a creative presentation. I will provide a copy of this presentation, as well as sample binder contents, in my report as evidence of my completion of this task.
  5. I will learn how to improve Customer Satisfaction by April 22, 2003.
I will meet with sales department personnel and discuss the current feedback system. I will analyze the existing system and any historical data available from clients, and then develop ways to improve the current system. I will present my ideas to my supervisor and provide a copy of this presentation, as well as sample analyses and system improvements, in my report as evidence of my completion of this task.
