Colonel Martin J. Wojtysiak

Colonel Martin J. Wojtysiak is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 75, San Diego State University, San Diego California. He is responsible for recruiting, educating, training, motivating, selecting, and commissioning officer candidates through a comprehensive college program. He provides academic instruction on fundamental Air Force doctrine, practical leadership experience, and extensive field training emphasizing physical fitness and officership to prepare future officers for active duty.

Colonel Wojtysiak entered the Air Force in 1982 after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. He earned his pilot wings and first served as a T-38A instructor and evaluator pilot at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. He subsequently joined the 9th Air Refueling Squadron at MarchAir Force Base, California, as an instructor and evaluator pilot in the KC-10A, where he flew in support of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In 1993, he reported to the United States Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he served as Assistant Air Attaché and C-12 instructor pilot.  In Pakistan, he co-authored
an amendment to the United States Foreign Security Assistance Act, which the President signed into law in 1995. He also piloted historic missions as the first United States aircraft to land in Bhutan, and the first to return to Afghanistan after the Soviet withdrawal.

In 1997, Colonel Wojtysiak was assigned to Travis Air Force Base, Califonia, as Director of Operations for the 60th Operational Support Squadron, and later as Commander of the 9th Air Refueling Squadron.During Operation Allied Force over Kosovo, he deployed to Europe where he commanded an air refuelingsquadron. In 2001, he served at Air Mobility Command and United States Transportation Command as Deputy Chief of the Aircrew Operations and Training Division, and later served as the Chief of Command Protocol where his offices supported more than 400 key events annually for the combatant commander. Colonel Wojtysiak is a command pilot with more than 4,000 hours in the KC-10A, T-38A and C-12C. His writings on United States national security policy have been published in Aerospace Power Journal as well as The Maxwell Papers series.
