Colonel Michael A. Fleck is the Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC)
Detachment 075, San Diego State University, San Diego California. He is responsible for recruiting,
educating, training, motivating, selecting, and commissioning officer candidates through a
comprehensive college program. To provide academic instruction on fundamental Air Force doctrine,
practical leadership experience, and extensive field training emphasizing physical fitness and
officership to prepare future officers for active duty.

Colonel Fleck received his commission in 1980 from the Officer Training School (OTS) in San Antonio,
Texas, after graduating from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Upon completion of
Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus AFB, MS, he served as a T-38 instructor pilot with the 50th
Flying Training Squadron until 1983.

From 1983 to 1985, he was an instructor pilot in the T-41C and Chief of Scheduling at the 557th
Flying Training Squadron at the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, CO. In addition, he
held the Chief of Flight Safety position for the USAFA from 1985 to 1986.

From 1986 to 1989, he served as a C-9A instructor pilot and Chief of Training while assigned to the
55th Aeromedical Airlift Squadron at Rhein Main AB, Germany. After this assignment, Col Fleck was
assigned as a C-9A instructor pilot and Deputy Commander for Maintenance at Chievres AB, Belgium, from
1989-1992.

His next assignment took him to Maxwell AFB, AL, where he attended the Air Command and Staff College
from 1992-1993 and served as a faculty member as Division Chief, Distance Learning Technology and
Branch Chief, Scheduling, Administration and Production until 1994. From 1994 to 1996, he was an
Evaluator Pilot in the C-21A, Operations Officer and Commander of the 54th Airlift Flight. Col Fleck
was then assigned to the 30th Airlift Squadron, Yokota AB, Japan from 1996-1998, where he served as a
C-9A instructor pilot and Operations Officer.

After this assignment, he was assigned to HQ PACAF, Hickam AFB, HI, as evaluator pilot for the C-9,
C-12 and C-21 and as Chief, OSA Stan/Eval from 1998 to 2001. He subsequently served as the 15th
Operations Group Deputy Commander and Commander through October 2002. Just prior to assuming command
of AFROTC Detachment 075 on 30 July 2005 he was the US Air Forces in Europe Senior Liaison Officer to
Headquarters US Army Europe in Heidelberg, Germany.

Col Fleck is a command pilot with over 6,300 flying hours.
