The sun cuts
through the shades
and snips away
the morning air
that cuffs my chin.
Naked, I rise
with the heat
and my hair is
loose threads
from your body ---
you are my kimono
of the evening.
My petaled kiss
designs your skin,
woven in gold.
You are my lover,
with arching brows
like the quills
of a dark bird.
Beneath the sheets,
your sleeping body
unfolds, cool
and inviting.
I lie in bed again,
put your arms around me.
And I sleep in
cotton linen silk,
cool white flames.
