Current question:

One of the primary themes of many Shakespearean plays is how often we are duped by appearances. Shakespeare often illustrates the idea that things in reality are not always what they appear to be. People who rely exclusively on appearances to make judgements are often doomed to tragic consequences. In a few paragraphs, show how this theme is central to the tragedy of Othello.

A note on using newsgroups:

These newsgroups have been created specifically for English 220. If you are viewing this site from a server other than the one located at SDSU, you will need to access the newsgroups in a different manner. If Telnet is available from your server, enter "rohan.sdsu.edu" as the destination. When you get Rohan, enter your login name and password. At the prompt (which may amount to little more than a "%" symbol), enter "rn sdsu.engl.engl220-1." For assistance in navigating newsgroups, type the letter "h" and you'll get a small help menu from within the newsreader. Pressing the space bar will open the next message, "=" will display all messages by subject, etc. A more detailed set of instructions will be available very soon. Of course, buying "The Internet Complete Reference" by Harley Hahn (Osborne) will help tremendously, as well.
