Course Objectives:



To develop the ability to read literature both responsively and critically.

To introduce some major works of world fiction, poetry, and drama, and to gain some sense of the distinctive qualities of each genre.

To explore the relationship of literature and technology through the use of the internet and electronic, interactive texts.

To understand the various critical approaches to literature.

To gain some sense of the distinctive qualities of various literary genres.

To better understand the value of literature and the values contained in it.

To relate literary experiences to other life experiences.
