Proposal Abstract (75 word maximum):

I traveled to Italy to search for new programs to replace the European School of Economics. I met with officials at three universities: Scuola Aziendale d’Amministrazione (Torino), Universita della Bocconi (Milano), and Universita degli Studi di Bologna. While in Italy, I completed a month-long intensive Italian course to enable me to serve as an “emergency” instructor of Italian due to severe budget cuts to the Italian program.

Travel report:

I. Opening/overview of intentions/activity

II. In preparation for the trip abroad

I collaborated with officials from the three universities: Cristina Ragioniera (Torino), Mario Tabarini (Milano) and Emanuele Bajo (Bologna). I confirmed that these prospective universities are “recognized” by the Ministry of Education. Bologna is the oldest university in Italy and the Bocconi is rated as Italy’s top ranked business school. SAA is also recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education.

III. Upon arrival/specific activity

I made the contacts to the three people listed above at the prospective partner universities for an exchange in international business.

IV. Conclusion, recommendation, and next step?

We decided to select SAA and the Bocconi as our Italian partners. Sustainability of these exchanges is high given that study abroad is required of all Italian/IB students. IB students will pursue business coursework taught in Italian, and we hope an internship in the future.

V. Additional Information

I would like to thank OIP for their support.
