The Intelligent Machines and Systems Laboratory (IMSL) at
San Diego State University
is engaged in research and teaching in several areas of machine
intelligence. These include applications to robots and systems
using techniques such as:
- Fuzzy
logic
- Robotics
and machine intelligence
- Neural
networks
- Genetic
and evolutionary algorithms
- Intelligent
multi-agent systems
- Rough
sets, data mining, and knowledge discovery methods
- Dynamic
system stabilization
Recently, several sponsored research projects have been conducted
in the laboratory. Among them are:
- Intelligent
navigation and control
of Mars rovers sponsored by NASA
- Genetic
path planning of rovers sponsored by Lockheed-Martin
- Evaluation
of computing performance of Compaq Alpha machines for robotic
simulation visualization sponsored by Compaq
- Robotic
person-following sponsored by the CSU Research, Scholarship,
and Creative Activity program
The laboratory also supports several computer science courses
and Ph.D. and M.S. theses.
