Fowler Scholarhip
John Fowler was Assistant City Manager of the City of San Diego. He retired from the City after 30 years of distinguished service. The professional and business communities demonstrated their respect and appreciation for John's service by establishing a scholarship endowment in his honor and it was housed in the School of Public Administration and Urban Studies. This scholarship is competitive and any on-going MPA student is eligible to receive it. Recipients receive an award of either $1,000 or $1,500. To be considered, students must demonstrate strong academic performance and a commitment to the field of public and urban affairs.
Walshok Scholarship
Professor Marco Walshok, professor of Public Administration and Urban Studies at San Diego State University, passed away in 1999. The University and professional communities, as a sign of respect and admiration for Marco's lifetime of achievements and accomplishments, established a scholarship in his memory. In an effort to respect Marco's professional goals and interests, the scholarship is designed to provide annual funding for a graduate student to undertake research and to facilitate public presentations on regional public policy in the San Diego/Tijuana metropolitan area.
