Student Internships/Practicums Available for the School of Public Affairs

If you are in Criminal Justice please use the following link. The practicum component of the BS degree in Criminal Justice requires that students take one 3-unit course from the approved list of courses, each of which involves immersion in a criminal justice practice context. These course options include: (1) an internship for a semester in a criminal justice agency usually working 15-20 hours a week, (2) a course in community resources that requires volunteer work in agencies, (3) the prison tour that involves visiting several CA prisons, (4) several study abroad options, or (5) a senior thesis. Some of these options, like the prison tour and study abroad, involve additional fees over and above tuition, for transportation, accommodation and food; others require no additional cost above tuition, and a few of the internships actually pay as much as $10-12 an hour.  Students can choose any one of these options to satisfy the practicum requirement, and may elect a second practicum that will count toward their CJ related electives. What you choose depends upon the field you are going into upon graduation.
